Other Aquatics :: Others :: Cymothoid Isopod
Common Name(s): Cymothoid Isopod A parasite that can be found in fishes' mouth, usually clinging firmly onto the fish tongue with its multiple hook-like legs. More than one parasite may be present on the fish. The Cymothoid Isopods are commonly found on Spanish Flag Snappers and Indian Threadfish. Removal of the parasite is difficult due to its powerful grip. The force required to pull it out often tears apart the parasite itself and causing trauma to the fish. Photo Gallery
