Leatherjackets can be found in rocky areas and shorelines all round the island. A common resident under jetties, as they find food along pillars. It has very small mouth so small hooks are necessary to catch them. They're pretty greedy fish so it's not too difficult to catch them. Sometimes, they may get fouled hooked or get themselves entangled on your line due to their rough skin and its barbed 'horn'. They are easily fooled into cage traps as well.
