Marine Fishes :: Jacks & Trevallies ::
Common Name(s): Brownback Trevally This fish is commonly encountered in small groups or schools as the tide starts coming in. The fish will swim around reefs or coast searching for shrimps and small fishes in a group and sometimes can be seen trashing water. Fresh shrimps and prawns meats are excellent baits to catch them. If you encounter a feeding frenzy, berly some baits or have more people to fish together to prevent the whole group from swimming away. This trevally is similar to yellowtail scad in term of size and meat quality. Males' body colour may sometimes turn black under stress or during mating.
