MacRitchie ReservoirMacritchie Reservoir is part of the Central Water Catchment has the richest features and amenities among all reservoirs parks. It has everything; beautiful reservoir, nicely paved jogging paths, fitness corner, an elegant wooden jetty, boardwalk nature trails, food outlets, kayaking and of course fishing. Sadly, there's really nothing much to write about Macritchie Reservoir's fishing ground since the space is pretty limited. So take this as an introduction to the reservoir itself, it's actually more enjoyable doing other activities besides fishing. Map of Macritchie Reservoir
Macritchie Reservoir is very accessible by public or your own transport. There are quite a few bus services that will bring you here, click here to see the bus-stops and bus services nearby. If you have your own transport, there are two carparks near the entrance of the the reservoir.
There's a toilet/changing room just beside carpark B. There are also lockers for public use, mainly for joggers. They cost 2 dollars per use. Also there are vending machines where you can buy drinks from. If you walk up the slope beside the carpark, you will see the reservoir from a concrete ledge. From there, you should be able to see the fishing ground on the opposite bank.
The fishing ground is just behind many bouys to mark the areas for kayakers to paddle. This can be a problem for both anglers and kayakers as it is within casting distance of the anglers. Furthermore, kayaking activities are likely to spook fishes away. The banks at the designated fishing ground is pretty much barren too. The water is shallow and there doesn't seem to be any cover or structure nearby to invite the fishes to come.
If you think Upper Seletar Reservoir's fishing ground is small, wait till you've visit Macritchie's. A mere 45 casual steps will cover the entire designated fishing ground. Now you won't have the excuse to say you couldn't see the start/end sign of the designated area because they're so close together! Good thing about the designated fishing area is that there are small concrete slabs laid along the bank to stand on, that way you won't get your shoes soiled or wet.
There's a pontoon infront of the Paddle Lodge for launching kayaks, don't try to fish there as the attendant can easily spot you. Similarly, the bank further down to the nature trail is out of bounds for fishing also.
You can rent a kayak from the Paddle Lodge located just beside the fishing ground. You can choose from the different types of kayaks and paddle at different designated areas depending on your certified level. There's a toilet/changing room just behind the Paddle Lodge too.
